My Favorite Bold Coffee #3 – (STARBUCKS)RED East Africa Blend
At Starbucks, we talk a lot about “good coffee doing good.” You’ve probably heard about Fair Trade Certified™, organic and shade grown coffees. But at Starbucks, we’re proud of the good that all of our coffees do.
(STARBUCKS)RED East African Blend was introduced in 2009 with a mission. As part of our ongoing commitment to farmers, their families and communities like those in rural Africa, we’ve teamed up with (RED)™ to give 5 cents (U.S.) to the Global Fund for every cup of coffee we sell in our stores, and $1 U.S. for each pound we sell of whole beans. This money will benefit children and adults living with HIV in Africa. And that makes every sip better for all of us. To find out more, visit www.joinred.com.
But that is only one chapter in its story. This coffee was created as a celebration of all the wonderful flavors East Africa has to offer. We wanted to create a blend unlike any other African blend we’ve carried. We’ve offered many great African blends over the years – from Gazebo Blend® with its bright citrus and floral notes to Rift Valley Blend offering deep notes of wine and spice. The challenge was to create a coffee with its own personality.
(STARBUCKS)RED East African Blend is more approachable than some other African coffees with polarizing flavor notes. This blend offers soft citrus flavors balanced with warm spice and herbal notes. These familiar flavors are uniquely packaged into a complex coffee with subtle acidity and a medium body. Now that is a brew to believe in.
