The Security of Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew
I will never forget the first time I saw Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew. I was getting my Americano at my local Starbucks and a new display near the cash register caught my attention. It read “soluble coffee”. The packaging looked sharp, but I couldn’t believe that Starbucks would sell an instant coffee. I thought, “No way … that would never happen.”
But when I asked the barista what it was, he explained that it was a proprietary combination of microground and soluable coffee that actually tasted like a fresh- brewed cup of coffee from Starbucks. I must have looked completely bewildered, because the barista immediately made me a cup to taste.
I could immediately smell the aroma as he poured it. When I tasted it, I was pleasantly surprised by the strong, bold flavor. Then it hit me. I thought to myself, “This means I no longer have to suffer drinking bad coffee when I can’t get to my local Starbucks. I can make my own!” I felt so liberated. I immediately bought a 3-pack and stuck it in my purse with the rest of my daily must-haves (lip balm, sunscreen, gum). Since then, I don’t go anywhere without a few sticks of Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew within reach. It just gives me a sense of security that’s hard to describe.
